This website has been archived and is no longer being updated. Mostly because my life took a different turn at some point, with less making/manufacturing stuff to write about.

Updates

I have a daily habit of working on side projects, and I've come to appreciate the benefits of tracking that habit out in the open. If I'm doing work on a software project, I track that on GitHub. If it's more hands-on, I like to post an update here.

  1. This is my first successful test print using NonOilen. The attempt before that didn't adhere to the bed, which isn't a surprise with such a small print.

Some 3DLAC solved the problem. Using an adhesive is recommended anyway, when printing with NonOilen.

This was also the first time I used 3DLAC (or any bed adhesive). So far it seems great.

  2. A Prusa Mini with a disassembled extruder.

Did some printer surgery yesterday! The filament was stuck in the extruder after the unloading procedure.

3D printing filament with a frayed end, stuck inside the disassembled extruder.

It wasn't a hard problem to solve, but seemed intimidating at first. Turned out really satisfying though! Feels food to have such a useful tool that is also so accessible.

  3. I recently merged this website with my personal site. In practical terms, this means my (former) personal website is now gone and this one has a new URL. I've set up the proper redirects, so hopefully this will not affect anything negatively.

  4. I posted a note about aluminium extrusion yesterday. I'm trying to take better notes when I research something, so I can then post about it here. I hope that this is useful to others, so please let me know what you think!

  5. I'm interested in developing and selling my own physical products, and I figured I'd start by dipping in my toe with the simplest one I can think of: a 3D-printed spacer.

It's not for sale yet, but you can already configure it and download a 3MF file for 3D printing (for free).
